The Process
Healing begins
with understanding.
Every process at Sinchi Runa is born from a personal conversation with Maestro Sanango. From it, we design an individual path that is entirely yours.
An individual path
From that first conversation we design a path that may include preparation at home, physical and emotional cleansing, master plant diets, ceremonies, integration and ongoing accompaniment.
We do not work with standardized programs or a fixed sequence of ceremonies. Each process is built around your story, your needs and what needs to be understood, transformed and integrated.
Because transformation does not happen in a single ceremony.
It happens through a process.
Every process is different
Some people arrive seeking help with depression, anxiety or addiction.
Others are going through existential crises, significant losses, relationship difficulties or a deep spiritual calling.
Some stay a few weeks.
Others, several months.
When patterns of suffering have been rooted for years — or even decades — more time is usually needed to understand and transform them deeply.
For this reason, there is no single formula. But all processes share certain principles that create the conditions for deep and lasting transformation.

The journey
Three stages of a single path
Before you arrive
The preparation
The process begins long before you set foot in the center.
01
Initial consultation and design of your personal process
The first step is a private consultation with Maestro Sanango. This conversation is not only meant to determine whether this work is right for you: it is also an opportunity to understand more deeply what is happening in your life.
People often arrive identified with a symptom — anxiety, depression, exhaustion, addiction, a relationship crisis or a spiritual search. Yet as they explore their personal story, deeper dynamics begin to appear that had not been seen clearly until then.
Understanding is a form of healing.
That is why many people feel the process begins during the consultation itself. During this stage we also review your physical, emotional and psychological state, medical history, possible contraindications and the goals of the process.
02
Preparation at home
The work begins before you reach the center. Depending on each situation, preparation may include changes in diet, reducing certain stimuli, adjustments to daily habits, meditation practice, support with plants or supplements, and personalized guidance to ease the transition.
The goal is to arrive with greater stability, clarity and inner readiness. Deep work requires proper preparation.
During your stay
The work
Cleansing, diets, silence, ceremony and integration, at the rhythm your process needs.
03
Cleansing and stabilization
Upon arriving at Sinchi Runa, the work usually begins with a stage of physical, emotional and energetic cleansing. Depending on each participant’s needs, this may involve specific dietary regimes, plant baths, traditional purges, Kambô, cleansing plants and other tools that help the body recover its balance.
The goal is not to provoke intense experiences. The goal is to create stability.
As the body begins to settle, the nervous system calms down and it becomes easier to observe clearly what needs to be understood and transformed.
04
Master plant diets
Master plant diets are one of the central pillars of the work at Sinchi Runa. Each plant has its own particular qualities and is selected according to the participant’s specific needs and the moment in their process.
We do not work with rigid protocols. Not everyone receives the same plants. Not everyone walks the same path. The diets deepen introspection, develop sensitivity and establish a direct relationship with the teachings of the master plants.
A diet is not simply taking a plant. It includes preparation, accompaniment, integration and an ongoing relationship with the process that unfolds before, during and after it.
05
Silence, retreat and introspection
During the diets, participants spend limited periods in retreat in a private tambo within nature. Silence is part of this practice, but it is not the whole of the process: participants continue to receive accompaniment and may ask to speak with Sanango whenever necessary.
The purpose of silence is not isolation.
It is to temporarily create the conditions to hear what usually remains covered by everyday noise. Dreams, emotions, memories, intuitions and deep insights tend to emerge with greater clarity in these spaces.
06
Ayahuasca and San Pedro ceremonies
Ceremonies are part of the process when they are truly needed to broaden understanding or deepen the inner work. They are tools that help illuminate aspects of life that had remained hidden.
Ayahuasca can bring clarity. It can accelerate processes of understanding. It can show, with depth, what needs to be seen. But transformation does not happen only during a ceremony: it happens through the ongoing work of understanding, integrating and practically applying what has been revealed.
The process keeps unfolding quietly within the person before, during and after each ceremony.
07
Consultations and ongoing integration
Throughout the entire process there are regular spaces for conversation, guidance and integration. Working with master plants generates experiences, emotions, memories and insights that need to be properly accompanied.
These consultations help order the process, understand what is happening and adapt the treatment to the real needs of each moment. There is no rigid separation between ceremony and integration: integration is part of the whole path.
08
Understanding and transformation
Over time, deeper patterns begin to reveal themselves. Emotional wounds. Family conditioning. Defense mechanisms. Emotional dependencies. Existential conflicts. Unconscious forms of suffering. The purpose of the process is not only to observe these contents. It is to understand them.
Deep understanding restores freedom in the face of patterns that once seemed inevitable.
09
The importance of the post-diet
The diet does not end when the retreat period in the forest is over. There is an equally important stage called the post-diet. During this time, the person gradually returns to daily life within the center while continuing to assimilate the work done with the master plant.
The post-diet helps stabilize the sensitivity developed during the process, consolidate the inner changes and allow the teachings to find clearer expression in everyday experience.
Many people underestimate this stage. For us it is a fundamental part of the work. Transformation needs time to take root.
After the process
The return
Where transformation finds the opportunity to take concrete form.
10
The return home
The process does not end when you leave the center. For many people, the real challenge begins upon returning to their usual environment. Family. Relationships. Work. Daily responsibilities. Old habits.
It is in this context that the understanding gained during the process begins to be put to the test. For this reason, we continue to offer accompaniment after the return: individual consultations, guidance for integration, Vipassana meditation practice, and support in understanding and navigating the changes that keep unfolding.
11
Integration and a new direction in life
The final goal is not to have extraordinary experiences. It is to live in a more conscious, free and truthful way. That is why we work actively on the practical aspects of life: relationships, habits, vocation, purpose, spirituality and life project.
The most important question is not “What did you see?”.
It is “How are you going to live now?”.
A process designed for you
We do not offer quick fixes, instead a deep process of accompaniment, understanding and transformation.
Grounded in more than three decades of experience working with master plants. Each person walks a different path. Our task is to help you discover yours.
Frequently asked questions
Before the conversation
Is this a retreat?
Yes and no. Coming to our center is a 'retreat' from the world to go into deeper work of self-understanding. However our work does not focus on quick-fixes or spiritual tourism. The word retreat tends to be associated with a brief, intense and quick getaway or experience — the opposite of what we do.
We accompany processes: sustained, personal and deeply guided paths, designed one-to-one with Maestro Sanango.
How long does a process last?
Every process is different. Some people stay a few weeks; others, several months. Processes usually last between one and three months.
When patterns of suffering have been rooted for years, more time is usually needed to understand and transform them in depth.
What does the accompaniment include?
Every process includes one-to-one online preparation before you arrive and integration accompaniment after your return, in addition to the in-person work at the center: on-going consultations and guidance, cleansing, diets, ceremonies when needed and ongoing integration.
Who is this work for?
For people who are ready to make a significant shift in their life, sometimes having already come a long way through therapy, spiritual practices, books, life changes — and feel that something still remains. Those seeking to understand patterns that still repeat, or suffering that returns in new forms.
People ready for something deeper, longer and more real.
Do I need previous experience with master plants?
Not necessarily. Many people arrive with some previous spiritual practice, and many others do not. The process is designed around your starting point, your story and your needs.
How do I begin?
The first step is either a free call with one of our facilitators to get to know each other and learn more, or if you are already certain about the process, going straight to a private consultation with Maestro Sanango. You can request it through the form on this page or by writing to info@sinchiruna.com.
The first step
The first step is not a ceremony. It is a conversation.
If you feel the time has come to look deeply at your life, tell us a little about yourself. Maestro Sanango personally answers every request. There is no commitment, and no rush.
